Perfect Sound Forever have published another one of my essays, this time it’s a relatively long piece where I grapple with all sorts of different facets of what it meant to be an Emo fan in the 00s.
The whirlwind of technology, gender, sexuality, eyeliner, teenage naivety and breaking new ground in a new online world.
I’m scratching the surface, maybe I should write a book :^) …

This is a really well-rounded essay that covers many facets of the emo scene! I used LiveJournal a bit from about 2004–2006 and MySpace from like 2007-2009, so while my exposure to music discourse on those platforms was limited and I didn't listen to all those bands you mentioned, I still really enjoyed this!
